BERLIN, 5 September 2023 – Wildcat strikes at Ford, Hella and GORILLAS 1973 – 2023
1973 was the year of wildcat strikes. Many factory workers put their immigration status on the line to fight against lousy working conditions. Beyond the usual representative bodies, they took their struggle into their own hands. The migrant workers not only fought for higher wages and more holidays, but also for equal rights. Beyond the big factories, couriers of different delivery services have also fought again and again in recent years, often with wildcat strikes against precarious working conditions.
Strike participants from then and now share their experiences. Based on this, we will discuss the possibilities and limits of self-organised struggles.
