Authoritarian and right-wing movements are gaining influence worldwide. Repressive regimes are growing in many countries, from Germany to the United States, and from Russia to Myanmar. Despite different contexts, global parallels are evident: the state and capital work hand in hand, often at the expense of marginalised groups.
Right-wing forces exploit insecurity and ‘law and order’ rhetoric to dismantle democratic rights. Historically, social movements have been suppressed when they demanded real change. Today, anti-authoritarianism is more than just the defence of liberal democracy – it is a struggle against a system rooted in exploitation, colonialism and dehumanisation.
Nationalism creates divisions that separate us as workers. Class struggle from below is the answer, because class solidarity transcends national borders. Our labour keeps capitalism running. We have the social leverage to enforce our interests together: through organisation and strikes. At work, on social benefits, in our homes, households, schools, and universities – on the streets and in all areas of life – we empower ourselves as colleagues, neighbours and friends.
Let’s fight for our rights in our own way and be a network that gives us the strength to tackle labour disputes and see them through. We mutually help each other and stand up for a world in which we produce what is needed – together. A world in which we can live self-determined lives and breathe more freely – all of us. That’s why you should join the FAU: drop by our open Lokal, find your section or working group, or come to the union consultation.
We call on everyone to join us in supporting the Class-Struggle Bloc at the DGB demonstration. Take to the streets for a strong workers’ movement – on 1 May and every day! #globalmayday2025 #1world1struggle
