Union help desk
It is necessary to constantly reflect on one’s sources and goals. Space is needed for this.
We are just starting a process of reflecting on trade union work and thus also counselling and making it fit for new struggles.
That’s why we are currently offering trade union counselling exclusively to members of the General Syndicate Berlin of the FAU.
However, we don’t want to leave you alone with your labour conflict. Below we have listed some tips and links to other counselling services.
- You are a member of a DGB trade union and your issue concerns you alone at first? Get advice from the legal aid or your trade union secretary.
- German isn’t your native language, more a Spanish? -> ask Oficina precaria

A few general notes on data protection and privacy:
Description and scope of data processing
You can contact us via the email address faub-beratung [at] fau.org. In this case, the personal data transmitted with the email will be stored on the FAU server. Your email will be processed and stored by the FAU Berlin's Union Help Desk ("AG Beratung") via a so-called Helpdesk & Ticket System (Zammad). Access to this ticket system is regulated by a separate authorisation concept, which is constantly reviewed.
Registration for counselling is done by email. In this sense, it is not anonymous. Apart from the email address you use and any contact details you may provide, we do not need any other personal data for the counselling. If you send us further details, documents, etc., you can therefore delete, blacken, pseudonymise or otherwise make inaccessible all personal information.
Your data will not be deleted or changed or passed on to third parties without your consent.
Purpose and legal basis of data processing
The purpose of data storage is to process your request. Therefore, if you send us an email, we assume that this constitutes consent by means of a clear confirmatory action within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR. We would like to point out that we are currently unable to provide end-to-end encrypted emails to the Union Help Desk (AG Beratung). Therefore, there is basically the possibility that your email provider could access the content. However, our email servers otherwise comply with the usual data security standards.
The legal basis for the subsequent archiving of the emails beyond the period of the consultation is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. This is to enable us to defend ourselves against accusations of misleading advice.
Duration of storage
The data will be deleted as soon as you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to store it or the purpose for storing the data no longer applies. The latter is deemed to be the case if the circumstances indicate that the matter in question has been conclusively clarified and/or we have not received any feedback from you for four weeks after the last email. After that, we archive the data for 3 years. Access to this archive is particularly restricted. In the event of your request for deletion or your revocation of consent, we reserve the right to weigh your interests, fundamental rights and freedoms against our legitimate interests.
Mandatory legal provisions - in particular retention periods - remain unaffected.
