Hostel workers unite!
FAU-Berlin, Foreigners’ section | email@example.com
The Hostel Industry in Berlin is rife with exploitation. It thrives upon an influx of young people coming to the city, speaking basic to no german, and not knowing their legal rights.
We are a group of workers who organised in our hostel, and are currently taking action to get fair contracts and higher wages, through legal action and protests. We are working in conjunction with FAU, a workers union, to find out average working conditions in Berlin’s Hostels and reduce precarious working conditions. We want to organise with other hostel workers to collectively campaign for better conditions.
We want to hear about your experiences, good and bad. Please email us answers to the following questions, along with any additional comments:
• What do you earn?
• Do you have a contract?
• How many hours are you expected to work?
• Are you paid in food and accommodation?
• Do you have any experiences of mistreatment by the boss?
Send your answers to firstname.lastname@example.org. It's totally anonymous and handled with care!
We also invite you to a meeting to share experiences with other hostel workers, discuss strategies that have previously been successful, and create a plan how to improve working conditions in our hostels. So see you there!
