Your IKEA protest: strengthening strikes, imposing reinstatement
FAU Berlin supports the Berlin call for a solidarity rally in defense of the workers dismissed in the IKEA warehouse in Piacenza: Friday, december 19th from 6 p.m. in front of IKEA Tempelhof (Sachsendamm 47; Bus 106 resp. M46).
This strike and the organization in this warehouse was one of the elements of a wave of struggles by mostly migrant workers since 2011. Warehouse workers, at TNT and DHL for example, were able to impose a number of improved conditions. Apparently, IKEA want to break and stop this movement of successful struggles and therefore refuses to reinstate the dismissed workers. Out of the 24 laid-off, 8 accepted a severance pay, whereas the rest receives 143 euros of well-fare and a small amount from the union's "resistance fund".
They need to be be reinstated!
For decent working conditions at IKEA! For the right to strike and to organize at IKEA!
Therefore: solidarity rally in support of the dismissed IKEA workers in Piacenza (Italy). (Find some background information on the wave of struggles in a labournet.tv video, see also the "Facebook event" here.)
