Time to organise!

Veröffentlicht am 24.01.2012 Kategorien: ,
Badly Paid? Overworked? Foreign? Berlin has been experiencing an influx of workers from around the world for over a decade. Employers in Berlin have been exploiting their precarious situation for just as long. The only good defense is to be well informed and have the support of your fellow workers. We at the FAU can help with both.

FAU stands for Free Workers' Union. We are an anarcho-syndicalist union which means that in addition to fighting vigorously for concrete improvements in living and working conditions of workers, we also want to bring about societal changes. Our goal is an economic and social order based on collective, grassroots democratic self-government. And the principles inherent in this goal reverberate in our union work.

There is no leadership body or paid official telling you what to do. In the FAU the members decide. Because we encourage members to get active, they can gather a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help them achieve their demands and realise their goals. By joining the FAU you can profit from this wealth of knowledge on labour issues.

In labour struggles, demands are developed by those they affect. Because of our grassroots structure, we are flexible and can adjust to specific situations. We rely on direct action, solidarity and quick mobilisation. The support of our members is swift and direct, their actions effective.

We are organised locally, federally and internationally. The FAU is a federation with member sections in cities across Germany. We are also part of the International Workers Association and routinely assist in their struggles. Mutual solidarity and support is very effective – nationwide and international. We also provide for our members culturally by facilitating the exchange of ideas between workers locally and providing a forum for visitors from our federation and international.

We invite you to join us at the FAU's English-language introduction seminar especially for foreigners, where you can learn about the FAU's history, understand how workers are organised in it and get to know some members.

FAU Introductory Seminar — February 3rd at 20:00 — Lottumstr. 11, Berlin
