May 1 demonstration: Not on our backs!

Published on Apr 28, 2021
Together with other initiatives we call for a class struggle demo on May 1st.

11 am | S-Bhf Hackescher Markt | Watch out for masks and distance

"In the current Corona pandemic, the burdens are mainly borne by wage earners, while the rich are still increasing their wealth. In factories like Tönnies, Amazon and many others, workers have to work in large groups and risk their health every day in the middle of the pandemic."

Wage earners have to struggle with mass layoffs, short-time work, union busting, harassment from the job center and high rents. Migrant workers in particular are exploited as temporary workers or through work contracts at dumping wages. We've had enough: The crisis must not be carried out on our backs! The rich should pay!

In the current Corona pandemic, the burdens are being borne primarily by wage earners, while the rich are adding to their fortunes. In factories such as Tönnies, Amazon and many others, employees have to work in large groups, putting their health at risk every day in the midst of the pandemic. Wage earners have to struggle with mass layoffs, short-time work, union busting, harassment from the job center and high rents. Migrant women workers in particular are exploited as temporary workers or through contracts for work at dumping wages. We've had enough: The crisis must not be carried out on our backs! The rich should pay!

Even before the pandemic, conditions in hospitals were characterized by staff shortages, work pressure, outsourcing and poor pay. We are fighting for hospitals where the needs of the people working there and the patients are in the foreground and not hospital corporations that make profits at the expense of our health. The system of flat rates per case and with it the profit orientation must be abolished. The hospitals must be remunicipalized and democratized!

Likewise we go together with the campaign German living & CO expropriate for the Vergesellschaftung of the housing enterprises on the road!

The Berlin Senate has undermined the provision of public services with the spin-off of hospital subsidiaries and underfunding. Berlin schools and employees were insufficiently protected from the pandemic, while there is enough money for evictions and police repression, as well as deportations of migrant colleagues continue to be everyday life.

We can only do something against the prevailing conditions together. Instead of social partnership and concessions to the companies, we need militant unions and resistance in the workplace and on the streets! In various areas, workers are joining forces to fight for their rights. On May 1, 2021, we want to give these grassroots initiatives space with our demonstration to report on their struggles and experiences and relate to each other in solidarity.

We take the pandemic seriously and therefore want to minimize the risk of infection at our demonstration. Therefore wear a medical mask during the whole action and keep the minimum distance!
